GHS Courses are Updated to Advance Chemical Safety Training

By Product Management Team |

Most plants use chemicals in their operations, and where there are chemicals, the risks for worker injury increase. Following the recent GHS regulation changes, we prioritized updating our chemical handling courses because we know regular training on safe practices makes a difference. We are happy to let you know of the 8 updated courses in our Workplace Safety library that include improved information on the labels and safety data sheets for hazardous chemicals.

Although the new rule making was effective 7/19/24, the compliance date for providing updated training on newly identified physical, health, or other hazards is July 20, 2026, so you have plenty of time to get your teams trained and knowledgeable. The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling for Chemicals (GHS) courses provide your frontline workers with the basic knowledge they need, so they can avoid issues and help themselves and others if a chemical exposure incident occurs.

In this round of updates, we’re bringing in storytelling to help with retention and scenario-based questions to give your workers practice for the real-life scenarios they may face. Our course lineup includes refresher courses on the 3 core topics to give you a clear and easy path to renew the training for workers to keep this knowledge top of mind. All eight of these courses are updated and will look new even to long-time employees.

  • Chemical Safety: Introduction – UEM0210
  • GHS: Introduction – UEM23
  • GHS: Pictograms and Hazards – UEM24
  • GHS: Standard Labels – UEM25
  • GHS: Safety Data Sheets – UEM26
  • GHS: REFRESHER – Pictograms and Hazards – UEM74
  • GHS: REFRESHER – Standard Labels – UEM75

All these courses continue to be available in English, Spanish, and Canadian French, and your delivery choices include eLearning and group training. Where you have these courses in Learning Plans already, the updated content will be shown upon the next course play – no action is needed on your part.

If you have ideas for new course topics, suggested changes to existing courses, or input on any facet of our Alchemy Training System, we’d love to hear from you. Please send your ideas and feedback to us at productfeedback@alchemysystems.com.
