We have begun a phased rollout of Alchemy Player 8.4.0, introducing enhancements designed to reduce setup friction, save facilitator time, and give teams more control without relying on IT or Support. 

These updates focus on simplifying common workflows and improving the day-to-day experience for facilitators running group training. 

Easier Future Updates without IT Passwords 
Historically, installing a new Player update required an administrator or IT password, often slowing access to improvements. 

Starting with releases after Player 8.4.0, updates will install without requiring an admin password. When an update is available, you’ll be able to install it immediately and begin working with the latest version. This process only pertains to clients with automatic updates turned on. 

Important note: this Player 8.4.0 release still requires an admin password to install.  

Self-Service Worksite Management
You can now manage worksites directly within Player without contacting Support. With this update, you can:

• Add or remove worksites at any time
• Configure your Manager URL and initial worksites during first-time installation

This change reduces setup time and gives facilitators more independence. You can access this feature by clicking on Admin Settings on the Main tab.

Faster Activity Reordering for Facilitators
Facilitators can now reorder courses using a familiar drag-and-drop interface. This option is available in both the Activities and Play tabs and complements the existing up and down controls.

Quicker Language Changes from the Home Page
Player serves your global team by offering multiple interface languages. Facilitators can now change the language directly from the bottom of the home page, reducing clicks and the frustration of navigating multiple windows in a challenging language. You can continue to make the change in Admin Settings as well.

Share Feedback Directly from Player
A new Give Feedback button is available in the Player ribbon. It opens a short web form where you can share ideas or feedback with the product team while the experience is fresh.

Additional Improvements
This release also includes:

• New filters in Course Downloads for “Course Type” and “Category”
• Displaying course duration ranges instead of single time values, as seen in Alchemy Manager
• The introduction of Thai as a new language choice for your Player user interface. We’ve also made updates to the Portuguese translations.
• Cleaner local storage from a new process that automatically removes outdated course files
• General performance improvements and bug fixes
